A lever to be pulled when required, Portal’s development partnerships are about offering producers, production companies, and networks flexibility and agility in scaling up their development capabilities during busy periods, to ensure their slate keeps moving forward. A bespoke service, tailored to an unpredictable market, this partnership is about filling gaps, allowing companies to expand and contract their development as needed: multi-project story consulting, high-level IP and submission assessment, elevating pitch materials, grant and application support, building writers lists and managing agency outreach, research, market analysis. Partnering with production companies, networks, and screen agencies, and educational institutions, Portal can deliver a range of workshops, labs and seminars for writers, producers and developers.

FOR WRITERS: ‘Before Fade In’, a three-day workshop designed to stress-test early concepts, unlock the potential inherent in the idea, pinpoint the central dramatic argument, and equip writers with tools that will lead to stronger first drafts.

FOR PRODUCERS AND DEVELOPERS: ‘Speaking Writer: Modern Development Practices’, a half-day seminar to equip developers with the tools and language to discuss story with writers to ensure the next draft sparkles. [FEES]

How We Charge

We price on an DAILY and weekly basis scaled to the scope of your project. We’re happy to discuss your needs and propose an approach. Let’s Talk!

Starting from $X per day + a $Y preparation fee.

For example, a typical short engagement on a specific project proving verbal and written feedback + next draft plan on a screenplay or outline, would price out as:

  • $Y preparation fee.

  • 3x days work at $X per day.

  • To a sum of $3000.
